But since his parents are desperately trying to get him married before he hits 31, Chaman does his best to woo someone while facing the hurdles of being a bald man and the bearer of a huge ego.

Your sympathy bypasses Chaman and rests with the more sorted Apsara whose affections for this selfish and spineless man are completely misplaced. Gagroo deserved a better written character. So then it’s up to Grusha Kapoor, Atul Kumar and Gagan Arora (as Chaman’s younger brother) to inject vitality into a dreary remake, but even their gags and heightened bickering become repetitive.
For a 120 minutes long film, Ujda Chaman tragically feels longer. The first half is almost entirely dedicated to the various insults and embarrassments heaped on our hero. Nearing the climax, when the makers want to tie up the loose ends , the “message” is spelt out and appears to be a self conscious addition without subtlety or nuance.
